Two years ago, I worked with advocacy groups and families around the state to pass legislation to create the Missouri Achieving a Better Life Experience program (MO ABLE). This program helps families save for future needs for loved ones with disabilities and receive tax savings.
Today I am proud to announce that I have signed a partnership agreement that will bring the MO ABLE program online within the next few months. Missouri will be partnering with four other states—Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Vermont—to offer one of the lowest cost and highest quality ABLE plans in the country.
Our MO ABLE accounts will be powered by the STABLE platform, which has been praised for its ease of use and low fees. Because of the program’s reputation for value and accessibility, the STABLE partner states that are currently online have some of the highest ABLE participation rates in the nation.
We are working to get the program up and running as quickly as possible, and in the coming weeks, I’ll be announcing plans for launch events across the state. I’ll also be announcing partnerships with several organizations to distribute information about MO ABLE. I want all Missourians who are eligible to know the benefits of signing up and to be able to do so with ease.
In the end, the MO ABLE program is meant to give peace of mind to individuals and families so they know they can save for their futures. My wife Jaime and I plan on opening an account for our son, Stephen. We hope you or your loved one will do the same.
